Another game decided by penalties after Colombia held on for the draw. Argentina started brightly and scored with Lautaro Martinez from Messi’s cutback. In the second half however, substitutions made the difference as Colombia managed to catch the Argentina defence out with a quick freekick and managed to score. There was a scare before this when Messi was hit on the ankle by a defender and was staying down. There was some treatment but he carried on. After the equaliser however, Argentina had the more chances and Messi struck the near post and later Lautaro Martinez missed a golden chance when he was teed up by Di Maria after Ospina was caught out but his effort was tame against the defender and Di Maria blazed over. In the penalty shootout, Emi Martinez was the star making three saves to deny Sanchez, Mina and finally Cardona to win the shootout and set up a Superclasico final with Brazil, the first since 2007. The third place match exists here and will be played between Peru and Colombia.
